They’re coming Houston. Are you ready? I sit down for an interview with Raging Silverbacks, a local duo who are bringing the noise to H-Town.  Raging Silverbacks consists of Gene Moreno, an up and coming music producer know for his dub-heavy sound and riddim vibe, and Othon Duran aka DJ Bigg O, known for his unique style of mixing and crowd control excellence.  I sat down recently for an interview with Gene and Othon to give you a chance to know a little bit about Raging Silverbacks and their conquest to take over Houston.

What’s good gentlemen, we’ll start from the beginning.  How did you guys meet?

Othon: We met each other at Treasures Gentlemen’s Club in Houston Texas. Gene as a manager, and myself as a DJ for the club.  From then on we became friends, had many things in common, music of course being one of them.

How did you become interested and get involved in the dance music scene?

Gene: The first show that grabbed our interest was Free Press Summer Fest ’15.  Raging Silverbacks was then born after Something Wonderful ’16 after watching an epic performance by Keys N Krates.

Othon: We were inspired by many artists at Free Press and Something Wonderful. From then on we just started going to shows at Stereo Live and other local events, and have never looked back.

Who are your biggest influences musically?

Othon: We’d have to say Zeds Dead, Jaime XX, Excision, and of course Keys N Krates would be our biggest influences.   All of those guys are just amazing.

Very nice.  So how would you describe the Raging Silverbacks sound?

Gene:  I would describe our sound as rhythmic and bouncy.  We love hip hop, rid dim, reggae, and dubstep, and our music definitely  reflects that.

In closing, where do you guys see Raging Silverbacks five years from now?

Othon: We see Raging Silverbacks delivering the most epic, rollercoaster ride of sound in every city across the nation, whether it be a small nightclub or large festival. We love what we do, and love giving people the experience of an emotional journey from rhythmic sounds of all genres.  No limits or boundaries in our music whatsoever.

Look for these guys in a local lineup and festival near you very soon, and feel free to get you a taste of their sound at
