Holy shit! Earlier this week Seven Lions posted a new mix titled “The Observatory,” and if you haven’t listened to it yet, we suggest you climb out from underneath your rock and check it out now! Seven Lions posted the art work for the mix on Soundcloud with this caption:

sevenlionsmusic The Observatory Episode 1 is the first installment in a new mix series from me. Just like The Observatory Spotify playlist, this series will allow me to highlight tracks I wouldn’t normally play in my live sets, and explore different tastes and influences.

Once the post was made it only took a few hours for the word to spread about the beautiful new mix coming from Seven Lions. So, we had to check it out for ourselves, and boy are we glad we did!

The mix begins with a long (yet necessary) introduction of Lane 8’s “Little Voices,” which sets the mood for the next two hours of pure bliss. This is not just a mix that you want to vibe out with, but it’s also one that you NEED! The first quarter of the mix is pure tone setting, to what we think is going to be called one of the best mixes of 2017.

A few of the features in the mix range from the legendary San Holo, to Above & Beyond, and of course some of his own tracks like, “Falling Away,”  “Cold Skin,” and Dabin’s remix of “Freesol.”

So much beauty and so many amazing tracks; however, don’t think of it as all simply sweet and soft music.  Just wait until it hits the halfway mark and he drops Simon Patterson’s “Opulence” – the whole pace of the mix changes.

Seven Lions

Not once in the entire two hours did we feel any sense of boredom, or disappointment.  If anything, it left us anticipating the second installment of this series.  We cannot wait to see what Seven Lions brings next!

One thing we do know is after the sets he threw this year along with this incredibly diverse mix, Seven Lions has slowly become one of the greats, with no signs of stopping!
