Listening to Lil Peep’s voice feels nostalgic now… it’s so crazy. Marshmello releases the track titled “Spotlight” with late emo rapper, Lil Peep. The duo started the collab prior to Peep’s death. The rapper dedicated this track to his mother, Liza Womack. Womack was very appreciative of Marshmello still releasing the track “to allow Peep’s voice to be heard through his art.” (Rolling Stone, 2018).
The track has an alternative-emo sound, with excellent trap drum and dark synths holding it down in the background. Marshmello takes a different approach on this track, mixing in his familiar sound with that alternative rock vibe, and then add an even more recognizable rapper’s voice.
