Buku Music + Arts Project, held annually at Mardi Gras World, is a two day festival in the heart of New Orleans. Buku prides itself to be a boutique event that promises a big festival feel without compromising its house party vibe. Seeking to serve as a sector of pop culture and the New Orleans underground art community. They combine international musicians with local food vendors, local visual artists, and various pop-up street performers throughout the venue. With a lineup that ways heavenly between EDM, hip-hop and indie rock; we can expect a great show from this year’s headliners like Bassnectar, Migos, A Day To Remeber, SZA, and Virtual Self.
Location + Stages
Mardi Gras World is located on NOLAS riverfront just walking distance to Warehouse District and the famous French Quarter, aka party central. Being on the Mississippi River gives Buku goers a breathtaking view of the Crescent City Connection bridge while riverboats and barges wade through the water.
Buku’s unique stages:
Power plant – Outside on the NOLA Public Belt Railroad with the haunted Market Street Power Plant as the background
Ballroom- Concert hall that has a wrap around balcony
Back Alley- Tucked away giving festival goers a secret riverside dance party vibe
Float Den- an actual Mardi Gras float production houses
Creole Queen Riverboat- Docked next to the festival acting as the VIP only S.S BUKU for the weekend; open bar, special performances and a killer view of main stage on the boats top deck.
Buku brings more than a stacked lineup and killer views of the stages, they also have some of the most unique live art, featuring prevalent local and national artist. Sculptures, paintings, graffiti, and other style of art can that weekend. Buku does a live gallery which features the work of many different artist in the two day span that is auctioned off to raise money for charity; how freaking amazing and cool is that!!
