When you think Australian producers who comes to mind? Well we just discovered a new producer tearing up the scene out there and hoping to make her way to our patch of dirt as well! Familiarize yourself with this bad ass woman who’s already been supported by huge names like Baauer & jauz! To top it all off, she is GORGEOUS.
We were lucky enough to be able to ask her a few questions and learn more about this rising powerhouse.
Hey Godlands, thanks for taking the time to chat with us! Hows April been for you?
April wow, what a blur. I met a bunch of awesome people and got to play heaps of sick music and travel around Australia. I mean look, I can’t complain!
Give us a little background on you. What brought you to this point as a musician, and as a person?
I like to think a bit of guts, determination, breakdowns and drunken nights all shaped me as the musician and person I am today. I’m unsure if that’s a good thing 😉
Tell us about your latest release, Pleasures?
I really wanted to make another high energy song, but one that has a mellow break down. I like the parallels of the drops, it’s a push and pull song and I think that comes across well in the production.
Can you tell us a few artists you would love to collab with and why! Also, do you prefer being in studio to collab or passing back and forth via the web?
KRANE, QUIX, What So Not, Twerl, Rickyxsan, Mura Masa, Snake Hips, Alison Wonderland. All of these people influence in some type of way musically, so to be able to link up would honestly be a dream come true. I soak up knowledge like a sponge and these guys are gurus, so even to sit back and see how they work and think would be a blessing.
You just recently were asked to do a mix for Insomniac, That’s HUGE, can you tell us a bit about how you approached delivering one of the biggest named in dance music a mix.
It was amazing! I think when it comes to mixes I really like to show each side of music I love. I like to touch on heaps of sub genres and make show it all flows nicely in the mix. I like to showcase artists that may not have been heard and really eclectic beats.
What’s typically on your rider?
I’m a simple girl… a six pack of beer, vodka, a banana, bubble gum and a framed photo of Kanye West.
Tell us your pre stage ritual!
A couple of beers and a standard freak out of remembering if I have my USBs or not.
Anything else you’d like to say to your fans?
I can’t wait to see where everything takes us! Thank you so much for your support so far 🙂 we’ve just announced Phase 2 of my debut tour ‘Pleasures’, which includes my first ever Japanese gig, so I’m looking forward to meeting lots of new faces too!
Thank you Godlands for your time. You can catch her on tour in any of the cities below!
