If you haven’t been put on to Nitti Gritti by one of your friends yet, get new friends. JK! But seriously, this multi-genre talented producer has been challenging the norms of the music industry by pushing out hits in every genre imaginable and just when you were wondering what he could possibly do to top the last release… he drops a fucking rock EP… Following up another huge release in the wake of, “Bailando” (yes, he shows love to the latinos) “Mine” & yet another insane “Lights” remix… he gives us more magic.

The EP contains an array of 4 tracks inspired by, what I’m sure is, an intense collection of music stored up by the young producer as he seems to draw inspiration from everywhere. Guitars and drums dance together as vocals from Nitti himself bellow through your speakers. It reminds me of the alternative rock that graced our radios in the nirvana era but with Nitti’s own influences and sounds amplifying every track.

“I think it’s important to note that Nitti Gritti sang all these records, produced them, and played all the instruments. He did this about 1.5 years ago and we’re finally at a point where putting out whatever we’re passionate about is more important than sticking to a lane.” – Paul Campbell; NU Mgmt

Judge Me is the track that the EP is named for and is a powerful song about a society that loves to Judge and force their ideals and beliefs on others, Nitti refuses to conform to your mold. He’s happy being him.

Tell Me kicks off with a grungy guitar and expressive vocals with lyrics directed towards a significant other. A sultry voice entices and Nitti asks you to tell him how you feel and then immediately tells you that you feel “right by his side”.

Money Bag gives you that energy that is one of Nitti’s key characteristics. Bringing it back to a simpler time, Nitti tells you to keep your money and that life isn’t always about the material things. The best things in life are always attainable.

The Persistence of Memory is just that. It hits you with those 80’s riffs, giving you a whirlwind of nostalgia and reminds you to keep your memories alive.. an excellent way to tie the EP together.

“Don’t give up on yourself, I never gave up on you. Time heals all, we don’t really know what to do.”

Nitti’s references throughout the EP are astonishing. He pulls through every area of early rock music. You can tell that he put a lot of himself, energy, knowledge and character in into this project. Nitti continues to push outside the “norm” in music and we can’t get enough of it.
