Mehdi Benjelloun, better known as Petit Biscuit, is a French DJ and music producer who has taken the world by storm. Some may know him as one half of the indie-pop duo Mount Dreams, but here in the states we mostly know him for his hit “Sunset Lover” and his beautifully engineered Presence album.
As for Austin goes, the tour was not our first time meeting Petit Biscuit. In fact, many of us discovered his raw talents when seeing him perform a couple of years ago at Euphoria Music & Arts Festival.
Fun Fact: This was his first time performing in the states.
Now let’s fast forward to today, or better yet Halloween. Before all the ghost, vampires, and Marshmellos went trick-or-treating they attended the Presence tour at EMO’s in Austin. As a fan, I knew the crowd that would be drawn to this show and knew the vibes would be absolutely amazing and a beautiful way to spend my Halloween.
To begin, I would just like to emphasize how talented this kid is. Not only is he an incredible music producer/DJ, but he plays live instruments in the middle of his sets, and the imagery that goes along with his music is stunning. I remember running to find the photographer because I wanted this shot so badly. It was breathtaking as he stood up on this box with his hands straight in the air and a single beam of light, it was so Angelic.
As for the music goes, it couldn’t have been better. The vibes were beautiful and everyone was singing along. Some moments that stuck out to me were when Petit grabbed the guitar and went to town. He didn’t miss a beat and was at a lazor focus. Of course “Sunset Lover” was a fan favorite. One of my personal favorite parts was when he changed up the pace of the show, and got hyped stage front, like he did to one of my favorite songs “Wake Up”. Finally, when he dropped “Suffer” featuring SKOTT, I had never heard this song before (I know, don’t judge me) and literally could not get it out of my head the whole night.
The night was beautiful from start to finish. I know myself and many of Petit’s fans have waited a very long time for his return to the States, and I can honestly say that I am already searching for that next lineup, or announcement that tells me he is coming back. If you are unfamiliar with who he is, GET WOKE, this teenage super music genius is going to be around for a long time.
