The incredibly stacked and diverse lineup that is BUKU Music + Art Project is fast approaching. The true definition of a muti-genre fest. Buku will not only be the epic return of Dog Blood, Skrillex and Boys Noize EPIC duo from 2012, but will also play host to headlining acts Lana Del Ray, Excision, RL Grime, Kevin Gates, A$AP Rocky, Griz and Louis the Child.
All set to the historic background of New Orleans at Mardi Gras World. (all pics from BUKU Official Website)
Buku doesnt just pride itself on being a festival though, being a TRULY immersive Art Project. The top live artists in the game are always on display to offer a fresh break from the music and appreciation of the moment. You can also take a breath and enjoy some of the INSANELY talented street performers that will pop-up throughout the entirety of the fest.
Now lets talk stages…cause BUKU has plenty. Offering SIX different stages (only 5 open to GA) its practically impossible not to find something to vibe with.
The Power Plant will be your main stage for the weekend. If you can’t figure out why they call it that…well…you’ll figure it out quick when you see the looming structure that lies beyond it.
The Wharf 2.0, reimagined this year to be even bigger and better, this riverside stage is coming in stacked with artists like Liquid Stranger, RL Grime, TRILLVO extended fam Whipped Cream, and a Getter: Visceral set just to name a few.
The Ballroom – imagined someone picked up your favorite local club and dropped it right smack into a festival, well thats The Ballroom. Complete with full wrap around upper decks. The Float Den, New Orleans’ INFAMOUS float production warehouse, sets the stage for artists such as G Jones, Tokimonsta, Claude Vonstroke and 1788-L just to name a few. Plus, who I am personally excited to see for the first time, Yaeji.
The Switchyard is the perfect place to step out of your norm and enjoy something new. With a complete art experience to set the tone, stop by with your Bukrewe and be one with the Project. The VIP Stage. Now normally I’m really not one to wanna hang in the VIP most the time…but JEEZ does Buku make it tempting. Offering EXCLUSIVE VIP-ONLY sets from artist such as, Charles the First, Jansten, and Dabin among plenty of others.
Easy to say the VIP is worth it.
Oh Buku isnt done just at the Project…offering some of the CRAZIEST late shows and takeovers you could imagine afterwards. Wakaan and Gud Vibrations will be representing in full force at the Joy Theater. A special Emo Night LA presentation with From First to Last will take place at Republic. Catch a b2b with G-Jones and Eprom at Orpheum Theater. Saturday night Papadosio and Mersiv serve up the sounds at Tipitina’s.
Choose your afters wisely.
BUKU Music + Arts Project takes place NEXT WEEKEND, MARCH 22 + 23, 2019, in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Catch the TRILLVO team there representing for a second year and come say hi if you see us!
