Buku Music + Art Festival is upon us once again! The two day long festival held in New Orleans own Mardi Gras World is a boutique event that brings a combination of large festival atmospheres while still maintaining its underground vibes. Artists, chefs, musicians, and performers come from all around every year for this event, setting up vendor stands and selling foods from cultures all over the world. Buku offers a diverse lineup that covers everything from indie rock and hip-hop to some of the best EDM acts in the industry. Artists like ILLENIUM, FLUME, TYLER, THE CREATOR, KAYTRANADA, MEGAN THEE STALLION, DANCE GAVIN DANCE, and many more are expected to make an appearance, you can check out the full line up below.

MUSIC

Good luck not being able to find a place to vibe with here, as the Buku Music + Art Project offers us a massive FIVE stages. Each stage is filled with a diverse lineup of extremely talented musicians and performers. The main stage has been revamped and renamed in 2020, now called The Port, which will hold some of the biggest names of the festival; FLUME, ILLENIUM, GLASS ANIMALS, and RUN THE JEWELS are just a few of the artists I’m most excited to see here. Set against the Market Street Power Plant, the newly upgraded main stage is joined by The Stacks, the second stage is set to host some of my personal favorite acts of the festival, ALISON WONDERLAND, BLANKE b2b LICK, and KAYZO: UNLEASHED are bound to be some of the most exciting performances of the weekend.

The infamous Float Den makes its long awaited return, also rebuilt and expanded upon to allow for more space while still trying to keep the old school Float Den vibes we know and love. Artists like CHRIS LAKE, I_O, SUDDEN DEATH: VOYD, CLOZEE, CASHMERE CAT, LSDREAM, and more are expected to perform here this year. Next we have The Ballroom, one of the few indoor stages at the festival. The official Buku website describes this stage as a music venue that has transported itself onto festival grounds, complete with wrap-around balcony viewing, I have to say my inner emo kid is most excited to see TAKING BACK SUNDAY and DANCE GAVIN DANCE here, but Houston natives DON TOLIVER, AND MEGAN THEE STALLION are sure to show everyone at Buku how our city throws down. Last but not least we have the infamous Wharf stage, Buku’s immersive, riverside experience, which will bring performances from MR. CARMACK, LUCII, PUSSY RIOT, DOM DOLLA, and many more.

ART

BUKU IS A NEW ORLEANS PLAYGROUND. THE LINES BETWEEN FAN AND PERFORMER ARE BLURRED. AM I LOOKING AT ART OR SITTING ON IT? DOES IT MATTER? LET GO AND IMMERSE YOURSELF IN: BUKULTURE. MUSIC AND ART FEEL DIFFERENT LIKE THIS.” – Quote from the official Buku website

We talked a lot about the music part of the festival, but what about the art? The Buku Music + Art project has an extensive array of pop-up performance acts and art stands for you to peruse and even participate in!

BUKU LATE 2020

When the festival ends, the party keeps on going, there is a fat line up of after parties this year with some of our favorite artists and acts getting a chance to give us an after-dark experience we are sure to never forget. You can check out after parties on every single night of the festival, but I have to say I am most excited for the Deadbeats takeover featuring some of my favorite acts on the entire line up like Zeds Dead, Subtronics, Moody Good, and a special HE$H B2B BOMMER set that is sure to break necks. Check out all of the afterparties below:

The BUKU MUSIC + ART PROJECT is happening in just two weeks, March 19-22, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Be sure to check out some of the amazing VIP options for the best possible BUKU experience! The perks are especially wild for the TOO BUKU crew with a rooftop section with a personal massage therapist, crawfish boil and GL for a Buku Late party!
